How to Edit and Publish Your Canva Invitation Website

Personalize the details, add your photo, check the RSVP form and share your finished invitation with confidence.

This walkthrough uses our Pumpkin Patch design. Follow the same steps for a Honey Bloom website template with the same three-page structure and Canva form setup. Labels and options may vary by template, account and Canva editor version.

Start with your template ↓
Step 01

Open your purchased template

  1. Open the delivery PDF that came with your purchase.
  2. Click your website template link.
  3. On the page shown below, choose Edit template and sign in to your Canva account if asked.
  4. Continue into your editable copy and give it a recognizable name, such as “Oliver’s Birthday Invitation.”

Use your purchase link for this step. The shop’s live demo is for viewing the design.

Three links, three purposes

Your purchase link opens the template. Your Canva editor link is for working on your copy. Your published website link is the one you will send to guests.

Step 02

Personalize the wording

Use the page thumbnails along the bottom to move between the invitation, details and RSVP pages. Your theme may use slightly different page names.

  1. Open the details page.
  2. Double-click the wording you want to change and select the existing text.
  3. Type your own name, age, date, time, venue and address.
  4. Review the itinerary, welcome message and RSVP deadline too.

Select the existing name and type your own. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

If a longer name or address no longer fits, reduce the font size slightly or adjust the line breaks. Keep the text inside its designated area. Leave decorative illustrations and the overall layout in place while personalizing.

If you accidentally move something, use Undo before continuing.

Step 03

Add your child’s photo

  1. Open Uploads in the left sidebar.
  2. Choose Upload files and select your picture.
  3. Drag the uploaded picture over the photo frame until it snaps into the frame.
  4. Double-click the framed photo to adjust its crop and position, then click outside it.

Drag your photo from Uploads into the frame. Unrelated uploads have been hidden. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

The landscape placeholder in this screenshot marks the frame that holds the photo. You can normally drag a new image over an existing framed picture without deleting the frame first.

If the picture lands as a separate image, undo and drag it directly over the frame again. Keep the child’s face comfortably inside the visible crop.

Step 04

Update directions and wishlist links

  1. Select the linked wording, such as Get directions.
  2. Click the pencil beside its current link to open the editing field.
  3. Replace the address under Enter a link or search with your own destination link.
  4. Click Done.
  5. Repeat for the wishlist or registry button, if included.

Replace the URL in the lower field, then choose Done. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

For directions, use the share link for your specific venue or address. The generic Google Maps address shown in the example does not point guests to your venue.

Keep page navigation separate

Buttons such as “Click to open,” “RSVP here” and “Go back to the invitation” may link to other pages within your design. Preserve those destinations unless you are deliberately changing the navigation, and test them before sharing.

Step 05

Review the RSVP questions and settings

Open the RSVP page, select the form and choose Edit. Under Questions, review the wording and answer choices.

  • Keep a clear guest-name question.
  • Check the attending / not-attending choices.
  • Make your headcount wording clear—for example, whether it includes the person answering.
  • Review any food-allergy or extra-information question.

Edit the included questions to suit your event. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

Next, open Settings to review the heading, submit-button wording and available response settings.

Check response settings in your own Canva account; available controls may vary. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

The example shows “Collect respondent names,” duplicate-response prevention and submission notifications. Do not assume every account has identical options; some controls may be plan-dependent.

Before inviting guests, open your published link in a private browser window or ask someone to test it. Check whether your selected settings ask them to sign in and whether the submission reaches your copy of the form.

Step 06

Preview on mobile and desktop

  1. Open Preview using the eye icon near the top-right of the editor.
  2. Switch between the desktop and phone icons.
  3. Scroll through each page and check text, photos and buttons.
  4. Keep the template’s existing mobile and navigation settings unless you need to change them, then review the result again.

Use both preview modes. The screenshot shows this template’s mobile preview. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

Look especially closely at long names, addresses and itinerary text. Preview is a useful check; test the published site on your phone as well.

Step 07

Publish your invitation website

  1. Click Publish in the top-right corner.
  2. Under Website URL, choose an address available in your own Canva account. If Canva offers a free Canva address, you can use that option.
  3. Complete the address or subpath fields Canva presents and review any availability messages.
  4. Click Publish and wait for confirmation.

Use your own website address

demo.honeybloomshop.com is Honey Bloom’s demo address. It is not included as your publishing domain. Choose the address available to you in Canva; do not copy the domain shown in this screenshot.

You do not need to recreate the seller’s custom-domain setup to use an available Canva-hosted address. If Canva’s screen differs, follow the options shown in your account or consult Canva’s Help Center.

Step 08

Copy the public link and send a test

After publishing, open the website using the displayed Website URL or View website. Copy the public address and send it to yourself first.

Published Canva website panel with Website URL highlighted
Use the published Website URL—not the address of your Canva editing screen. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

Open the link on your phone. Try the opening button, directions, wishlist and RSVP navigation. Submit a test RSVP using a clearly recognizable test name.

Once everything works, share the public link by text or email with a short message:

“You’re invited! Open the link for the party details and please RSVP by [date]. We’d love to celebrate with you.”

Keep your editable Canva link private. The editor can expose your design and form responses to people who have editing access.

Step 09

Find your RSVP responses

  1. Return to your copy of the invitation in Canva.
  2. Open the RSVP page and select the form.
  3. Click Responses in the toolbar.
  4. Use View responses to review the submissions.

The example has one test submission. Identifying response details have been hidden. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

A response total counts submissions, not necessarily the number of guests attending. Read the attendance answer and headcount fields when planning your food and seating.

The panel also shows a “Link to sheet” option. You can explore that if useful, but viewing the responses is enough to check that your test arrived.

Step 10

Publish later changes and check the link preview

If you edit the event after publishing, choose Publish changes so guests see the updated version. Reopen the public link to confirm the changes appear, and tell guests directly about important time or venue changes.

Under the website’s Settings, review the title and social-media link preview. Give the website a recognizable title before sharing it.

Review the title and preview. Messaging apps may display previews differently or retain an earlier version. Tap or click the screenshot to enlarge.

Changing the preview does not replace a real test: send the published link to yourself and see how it appears in the app your guests will use.

Before sending it to your guests

  • The name, age, date, time, venue and RSVP deadline are correct.
  • The photo fits its frame on mobile and desktop.
  • Directions and wishlist links open the right destination.
  • All page-navigation buttons work.
  • A test RSVP appears in your own form’s Responses panel.
  • You are sharing the public website link.
